Creating a world of difference
At Future Leadership we have a culture that embraces the fast pace of change and the opportunity that lies in not knowing what ‘next’ looks like. One of the reasons we are able to move together so quickly, is that while everything around us shifts, some things never will. Our purpose and our values underpin everything we do.
Creating a world of difference relates to our values of care, collaboration, solve and impact in the way we guide people coming through our ecosystem. We genuinely care about our candidates, both successful and unsuccessful. We go above and beyond to collaborate with our clients to co-create value. We challenge ourselves and everyone in our world to solve beyond the short-term. And we hold ourselves to account to impact across diversity measures, future-capability frameworks, and ESG-focused business operations.
Future Leadership is a capability ecosystem for boards and executives.
Leading today, with tomorrow in mind.
The Future Leadership Story…
Our three businesses include: Fisher Leadership, Board and Executive Search; CLA, leadership learning and development; and Gig Executive, delivering on-demand executives to help organisations keep up with the pace of change.
We are living through a fundamental transformation in the way we work.
Once upon a time, organisations relied on a fixed set of capabilities. Today, leaders adapt to new challenges almost constantly. Future Leadership partners with organisations to attract, amplify and augment talent to enable dynamic capabilities in your organisation.
Like the challenges we face, the executive journey is no longer linear. We partner with individuals and organisations to think differently about future leadership capability. Our Global Capability Framework underpins everything we do, from sourcing and attracting talent, to leadership development and wellbeing, to succession planning and transition, right through to delivering on-demand executives. We support executives to prepare for lifelong employability, and organisations to secure a seamless cycle of capability.
Leadership requires diversity
Since Jo Fisher founded Fisher Leadership Executive Search 20 years ago, our mission has been to bring more diversity to leadership tables. For two decades more than 50% of our appointments have seen highly qualified women leaders placed in senior roles.
But our thinking goes way beyond gender diversity. Social diversity is another set of differentiators that is important to us. For example, nearly 3% of all appointments are Indigenous leaders, a representation aligned to Australia’s First Nations population. We work with organisations championing equality for disability, age diversity, gender identity and inclusion for all cultural backgrounds.
Further – and this is where we get really excited – we measure individuals, teams and boards for diversity in future skills, as well as cognitive diversity and leadership style. We map our talent ecosystem to our proprietary Global Capability Framework. Designed in partnership with some of Australia’s top academics, the Framework underpins everything we do.
A common language of leadership for a borderless world
Our Values
Future Leadership’s values underpin our processes, the way we treat people, and our approach to business. Our values represent the way we work, every day.
Our genuine care earns trust in each other, our partners and our clients.
We believe partnership is the new leadership, and cognitive diversity is key to successful collaboration.
We exist to solve beyond the now. We commit to seeing things differently.
We drive transformative impact in the new working world.
Our Commitment to Sustainability Practices
Over the decades, Future Leadership has invested significant resources in developing our approach to Sustainability. In consolidating our sustainability agenda, we have reviewed in depth what we as an organisation must do to ensure we live and promote sustainable business practices. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide our guiding light. We have applied the ESG framework as the most appropriate means to focus our efforts.
Throughout the report, the SDG icons are used to reference the alignment of our initiatives.
A Connected Community
At Future Leadership we believe partnership is the new leadership. We understand the value of strong communities and feel compelled and grateful to contribute proactively to the places where we live and work. We put back a significant amount of profit into community causes that align to our purpose of making a difference, and our sustainability goals for leaders around cognitive diversity, mental health and the future of work.
Some of our key contributions to empowering diverse leaders include our foundational partnership for the Diversity Council of Australia’s Diversity and Inclusion Network, our founding sponsorship of the Mandarin Careers Platform for the public sector, our longstanding partner with IPAA to host the International Women’s Day gala dinner, as well as to curate the Senior Executive Women’s Network mentoring program.
Another highlight for us is impacting highly talented individual leaders including our sponsorship of Indigenous health leader Cara Lee Cray to undertake an MBA at Deakin University, and our sponsorship of Indigenous artist and story-teller Greg Matthews, as we partner with RCH150 – the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation to raise awareness for their 150-year celebration of community impact. Our participation in shaping the new working world is channeled into partnerships such as our representation on the National Education Advisory Committee for the Australian Institute of Company Directors. As well as our participation in the Committee for Melbourne technology and future skills taskforces and a content partnership with the Future Work Summit shaping the human experience of work in decades to come.
Global Partnerships
When we think about leadership, we are thinking global. As the exclusive local partner to the IMD International Search Group – a global top 20 executive search organisation, Fisher Leadership enables clients and candidates to connect across regions, cultures and sectors. We are also a fully credited member of AESC, the Association of Executive Search and Leadership Consultants.
