CEO Search for a global change-maker

Leading change for the Australian branch of a global impact organisation

The Brief

The Board of a well known for-purpose organisation sought Fisher Leadership to appoint an outstanding values-driven Chief Executive (CE) to lead one of Australia’s top ten charities into a sustainable future of growth and innovation following the retirement of the CE. With a positive brand presence, and  international reputation, the incoming CE was required to steer the organisation through significant external and internal change in both the short and long-term.

Following a detailed briefing, the search got underway for a visionary CE to ensure long-term sustainability and achievement of the vision of a world without the injustice of poverty. Accountable to the Board, the role will steer the organisation through the delivery of a new business model, and provide visionary leadership to drive performance in all aspects of the organisation’s charter. Strategic leadership experience and strong commercial acumen were identified to be key attributes, along with experience in leading policy development and implementation, financial management and the ability to work across the public, private and community sectors.

The Outcome

Fisher Leadership undertook an extensive talent mapping exercise initially followed by a national and targeted international executive search process, supported by a print and online advertising campaign. A shortlisting meeting was held with the Chair, and diverse candidates were presented. A range of candidates were considered across international development, NFP, government, private sector, education and professional services.

Following a two-stage panel interview process, an accomplished CE, was appointed. The candidate is an established thought leader, advocate for public health, innovation and quality improvement, a promoter as well as an experienced facilitator, negotiator and Chair, with a wide-ranging background in community development, education and health promotion. She brings a passion and commitment to social equity, evidenced through her early work in homelessness, drug policy, human rights and the social determinants of health.

No, thank you.
